Julie Lennox Head of School

Julie received a BA in Liberal Arts with an EVST emphasis, a BA in Elementary Education with High Honors from the University of Montana and an MA in Educational Leadership. Julie sits on the Board of Governors of the Northwest Association of Independent Schools. Julie is an IB Educator who delivers PYP workshops to schools and at conferences across North America. Julie has been with MIS as a professional educator and MIS alumni parent since its founding in 1995. Rizzo is the official school mascot and assists Julie in spreading smiles.

Jeff Kessler Assistant Head of School

After graduating from Willamette University in 1998, Jeff began teaching 5th and 6th grade in Altadena, California through Teach for America. For the last 19 years Jeff has taught students from 1st to 8th grade in a variety of middle school and elementary school settings. In addition to teaching University writing classes, Jeff currently is a faculty affiliate at the University of Montana’s Phyllis Washington School of Education. Jeff won a Gold Star Award in Teaching Excellence for his work at MIS in 2010. In 2014 Jeff completed a two year fellowship with the National Association of Independent Schools in School Leadership. While completing his master’s degree at the University of Montana Jeff joined MIS in 2003. He became Assistant Head of School in 2010. In addition to his administrative responsibilities Jeff teaches 8th grade history.

Laura Bovard Director of Admissions and Marketing

Laura is a proud alumni parent who has been actively involved with MIS since 1996. As a parent volunteer, she helped to establish the MIS library and enjoys sharing her love of books, languages and adventure with MIS students. Laura has a BS in Business Administration and International Studies with a minor in Spanish from Iowa State University. Laura spent 12 years as a sales representative and marketing manager in the employee benefits industry. She worked for CIGNA Corp, Coventry Health, and as a consultant for Johnson Administrators. Laura currently serves on the Board of Directors for MCT and Arts Missoula (formerly the Missoula Cultural Council)

Gini Aten Erving Chief Financial Officer

Gini and her husband Rich have called Montana home since 1997. They have been involved with MIS since 2002 when their older daughter was ready to start preschool. Having traveled and lived all over the world, Gini was excited to find a school in Missoula that would provide opportunities to experience other cultures and a different language.  All three of her children (Lia, Will, and Nina) are now proud MIS graduates.  Gini owned a business in downtown Missoula and managed grant funding for a local non-profit.  In 2015 she earned a Master’s degree in Accounting from the University of Montana and obtained her CPA license.  She has since been an auditor with a local public accounting firm that specializes in working with non-profit organizations.  Gini joined MIS as CFO in 2018 and is happy to return to this community that gave so much to her family while her children were growing up.

Becca Hollis MIS Finance Team

Becca Hollis, originally from Wisconsin, has lived in the Bitterroot Valley for the past 6 years. She recently graduated from UMT with a degree in business and received her Project Management Professional certificate. Becca has spent the past 11 years running her own business as a photographer, web design/developer, and creative director. She is an innovative professional with demonstrated career success in taking ideas from concept through launch. In her free time, she has been fortunate to travel the world, she appreciates the arts as often as possible and snuggles with her hubby and animals.

Gary Cram Director of Finance

Gary has an MBA and a broad and rich background in all areas of business management. He is an entrepreneur- starting two companies and serving as general manager of a multinational company. He lived abroad for most of those years in the Virgin Islands and Brazil. Gary is the proud parent of a 2012 MIS alumna. He has served as the MIS Director of Finance since 2011.

Sabine Sriraman Administrative Assistant

Sabine was born and raised in a small town in Bavaria, Germany. She moved to the USA in 1996. Sabine has a BA in Social Work and an Associate of Applied Science in Respiratory Care. She spent 12 years as a stay-at-home mom raising her 3 children before joining MIS in 2013. In her free time she enjoys hiking, gardening, baking, and reading.

Lisa Robertson Director of Development

Lisa moved in the summer 2017 to Missoula. Prior to her move, Lisa served from 2010 to 2017 in several positions at the University of Houston. Her responsibilities included the role of Strategist and Executive Director of External Relations and Strategic Partnerships for the College of Engineering. She brings experience as the Chief of Staff to the Provost and Executive Vice President for Academics at Texas A&M University, the Director of Strategic Initiatives at Purdue University’s College of Science, as well as nonprofit development experience for organizations including TechPoint and the Indiana Horse Council. Lisa received a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Colorado, Boulder, and a Master’s degree in International Relations from Lancaster University, UK. She holds a Certificate in Fund Raising Management from the IU School of Philanthropy. Lisa’s interests include animal welfare and rescue, hiking, health, fitness, and politics.

Becky Crawford Development Assistant

After graduating from the University of Oklahoma, Becky spent two years teaching English overseas in Lanzhou and Hangzhou, China. Some of her favorite memories from China are dumpling parties for Christmas, snowball fights with her students, and train rides around the country meeting all kinds of people.
Becky moved back to the states in 2009 and attended Northwestern University. She graduated a year later with a Master of Science in Journalism concentrating on broadcasting and business reporting.
Since then she has worked and played in Los Angeles. In California, she was courted by her now husband of two years, Andrew, who was also a military brat growing up. In the fall of 2016, they moved to Montana, adopted a dog and bought a house. They are excited to finally plant roots in the Big Sky Country.

John Walker Enrichment Coordinator

John Walker is a young, self-motivated Montanan with a big heart for the Missoula community. Mr. Walker has developed his nonprofit skills through crucial, Missoula based, internships that laid the foundations for his place at Missoula International school. Some of his favorite activities are long bike rides, tennis in the sun, and hot cups of coffee. He is humbled to be a part of our team and community.
