We are preschool through eighth grade, and immerse students in Spanish as a second language beginning at age three.

Responsibilities

  • maintain & contribute to a positive climate in the classroom & throughout MIS following the guidelines of the teachers
  • follow the guidance & instructions of the lead teachers
  • maintain constant awareness of the needs of the students & provide support to ensure their safety and health
  • treat all people with respect & show sensitivity for cultural differences

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • previous experience working with children required
  • Spanish fluency is preferred
  • must pass a background check

Responsibilities

  • teach classes & develop curriculum aligning with IB program
  • work collaboratively to support all aspects of the IB program
  • involve students in planning for their own education
  • support conceptual understanding & inquiry-based learning
  • allow for integration & connection between curriculum areas
  • emphasize differentiation for a range of ability levels
  • assess & track student progress
  • write end of semester student progress reports
  • work with students to create student portfolios
  • maintain positive & active communication between parents, students, staff, and administration
  • lead semester parent teacher conferences
  • support admissions & community at the school
  • attend required school & community events (may be in the evening or weekend)
  • supervise students during recess & lunch
  • further development of MIS's language immersion, inquiry-based pedagogies
  • proactively & positively share the MIS mission & IB program structure with others

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education or other related field
  • Spanish fluency is required depending on grade & class
  • experience & training in the IB programs is advantageous
  • knowledge of the pedagogy of immersion education is preferred
  • ability to effectively communicate with staff, admin, faculty & parents/families
  • must pass a background check
