Before Care Lead & Student Support

The Before Care Lead and Student Support is responsible for providing a safe and nurturing environment for children in the School’s before care program during the hour preceding the start of the school day. Thereafter, the position provides support to individual students on an as-needed basis. The position is hired by the Head of School, although much of the daily supervision and direction will come from classroom teachers.

Spanish fluency is not required!

Hours: The regular schedule for this position is 7:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Additional hours as a Substitute Teacher for the School will be available on an intermittent basis. The position is immediately available for the term of the 2019-2020 school year, ending on June 12, 2020. The school’s calendar defines official school days and holidays.

Compensation: The hourly rate for this position is $12.00. Compensation may also include the following:

  • The School will pay a prorated amount of the annual health insurance premium to reflect the employee’s full time employment equivalency if it is 0.5 FTE or greater.
  • The employee may elect to purchase at her own expense dental and/or vision insurance at the School’s group rates.
  • MIS employees who work 1,000 or more hours in a plan year (September through August may elect to participate in the School’s 401(k) retirement plan and make regular contributions through deductions from each paycheck to be matched by the School (up to 3% of the employee’s gross earnings).
  • The School provides all 0.5 FTE or greater employees with a life and AD&D policy worth $50,000.

Substitute Teachers

We are preschool through eighth grade, and immerse students in Spanish as a second language beginning at age three.

  • supervise students during recess & lunch
  • further development of MIS’s language immersion, inquiry-based pedagogies
  • proactively & positively share the MIS mission & IB program structure with others

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or other related field
  • Spanish fluency is required depending on grade & class
  • experience & training in the IB programs is advantageous
  • knowledge of the pedagogy of immersion education is preferred
  • ability to effectively communicate with staff, admin, faculty & parents/families
  • must pass a background check
