Where did you grow up?
I grew up in a small, small town in northern Wisconsin called Eagle River – lots of trees and lots of lakes. My time was often spent on the lake or adventuring in the snow. I’m always asked about the winters and yes, there is a lot more snow. My school day would only be canceled if it was -30 without windchill or we got more than 12″ of snow overnight. I come from hardy stock!
How did you learn about MIS?
I did a project for MIS through the university. I enjoyed working with everyone here for the project, so when I saw the available position, I jumped on it.
Tell us about your background and education in the field of business management?
I have run my own business for over 11 years, and with that comes a lot of practical experience. However, I also wanted a degree to support that experience. Thus, I attended UMT and received my BS in Management Information Systems (business and tech). Additionally, I received my Project Management Professional certification this past summer.
What excites you about your new position as Business Manager?
What thrills me about my new position as the Business Manager is the environment I’m in. I have always said that education is the way to solve the world’s problems and to be a part of that at a school, whose mission I support and believe in, and be surrounded by amazing like-minded folks is the best!
What are two of your favorite things to do when you’re not working?
Two of my favorite things to do when I’m not in the office is cooking (it is quite relaxing for me) and traveling (both near and far).
What’s your favorite book and why?
My favorite book is Pride and Prejudice. I read it every single year. The independence, the rebellion, the romance, the words – it makes me happy.
