Where did you grow up and how did you come to MIS?

I grew up in Anaheim, California. I am a native Spanish speaker. Before moving to Missoula I took a road trip visiting churches on the West Coast. Since the church in Missoula is fairly small, my wife and I decided to migrate to Missoula, Montana. Since my wife and I had experience working with children, sister Chung Zei told us about this job posting at MIS. My wife and I applied and first my wife Karime got the job and then me.

What do you and Karime like to do in your free time?

Karime and I both like the adventure of visiting new countries and states. We enjoy visiting families from our church and spending time together. We also enjoy going to the gym.

What do you enjoy the most about working at MIS?

I enjoy interacting with our students and listening to their ideas and thoughts. Each student is unique, smart and talented in many ways and, as educators, we are here to help nurture them and teach a high standard of values, principles, and morals that will make them today’s shining stars in this world. I enjoy working with Preschool students and seeing how their senses, emotions, and mind develops to being able to perceive and understand the things that surround them and being able to express themselves using their own words. It is very interesting seeing their growth and development, especially their learning ability to speak a second language. I am fascinated with the International Baccalaureate education that MIS has for our students.

What was your favorite subject in school?  Favorite book as a child?

Favorite book as a child? My favorite subject in school was and still is History. I very much enjoy reading and learning about World History. I personally think that in the last 20 years we have been moving at a very fast pace in technological advancements and discoveries. All these changes will affect the Earth we live on. As a child I enjoyed reading fiction books, my favorite book was Ender’s Game.
