Julie Lennox, Head of School

Julie received a BA in Liberal Arts with an EVST emphasis, a BA in Elementary Education with High Honors from the University of Montana and an MA in Educational Leadership. Julie sits on the Board of Governors of the Northwest Association of Independent Schools. Julie also sits on the Board of Directors of Missoula Medical Aid. Julie is an IB Educator who delivers PYP workshops to schools and at conferences across North America. Julie has been with MIS as a professional educator and MIS alumni parent since its founding in 1995.  Rizzo is the official school mascot and assists Julie in spreading smiles.

Jeff Kessler, Assistant Head of School

Jeff has a BA in History from Willamette University in Salem, OR and an MS in Environmental Studies from the University of Montana. Jeff won a Gold Star Award in Teaching Excellence for his work at MIS in 2010. In 2014 Jeff completed a two year fellowship with the National Association of Independent Schools in School Leadership. Jeff is the President Elect of the Northern Rockies Association of IB Schools. Jeff joined MIS in 2003 and has taught at all the grade levels from first grade to eighth grade. Prior to MIS, Jeff taught for three years in Southern California as a Teach for America Corps member.

Ben Super, Director of Operations

Ben Super joined MIS as the Director of Operations in July 2015. He is primarily responsible for ensuring organizational effectiveness by providing leadership for the school’s business operations and functions. Ben was born in Rapid City, South Dakota and raised in Northern Virginia. He earned and Army ROTC scholarship and a degree in Forestry from the University of Montana. Previously, Ben worked for the Southwestern Land Office a regional headquarters of the Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation as Business Manager.

 

Gary Cram, Director of Finance

Gary has an MBA and a broad and rich background in all areas of business management. He is an entrepreneur- starting two companies and serving as general manager of a multinational company. He lived abroad for most of those years in the Virgin Islands and Brazil. Gary is the proud parent of a 2012 MIS alumna.  He has served as the MIS Director of Finance since 2011.

 

 

 

 

John Scibek, Campaign Director

John joined MIS’s team in spring 2016 with 33-years experience in educational, research and non-profit fundraising. Most recently, John was Senior Director of Planned Giving for The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, assisting benefactors and their advisors with philanthropic estate planning, life income arrangements, real estate, life insurance and complex asset contributions. Prior to that, he enjoyed a 5-year tenure as the Principal Gifts Officer for the Office of Gift Planning at Mayo Clinic. Before that he served as the Director of Planned Giving for The University of Montana Foundation for 8 years. John is excited to return to Missoula following a 6-month sabbatical in 2015, where he traveled to Turkey, Madagascar, Patagonia and Uruguay.

 

Laura Bovard, Director of Admissions and Marketing

Laura is a proud alumni parent who has been actively involved with MIS since 1996. As a parent volunteer, she helped to establish the MIS library and enjoys sharing her love of books, languages and adventure with MIS students.  Laura has a BS in Business Administration and International Studies with a minor in Spanish from Iowa State University.

Laura spent 12 years as a sales representative and marketing manager in the employee benefits industry. She worked for CIGNA Corp, Coventry Health and as a consultant for Johnson Administrators.

Laura currently serves on the Board of Directors for MCT and Arts Missoula (formerly the Missoula Cultural Council)

 

Sabine Sriraman, Administrative Assistant

Sabine was born and raised in a small town in Bavaria, Germany.  She moved to the USA in 1996. Sabine has a BA in Social Work and an Associate of Applied Science in Respiratory Care.  She spent  12 years as a stay-at-home mom raising her 3 children before joining MIS in 2013. In her free time she enjoys hiking, gardening, baking, and reading.

 

 

 

Connie Jette, Bookkeeping

Connie Jette was born and raised in the Missoula area. She spent a few years living in Washington, Arizona and California before returning to her home town. She has been employed as a bookkeeper ever since graduating from Frenchtown High School and has taken college courses in various areas including accounting, psychology, nursing and natural medicine. She has two grown children and 3 grand-daughters, that she enjoys spending time with whenever possible. Connie joined us here at MIS last June and works part-time with our finance director.

 

 

Kaye Harberd, Enrichment Program Coordinator & Head’s Assistant

Kaye is our Enrichment Program Coordinator and serves as the Head’s assistant to support Communications and Fundraising. Kaye joined MIS as a parent in 2013. She is now the parent of two MIS students.

 

 

 

Maureen Bjerke, After School Lead Teacher Communications & Development Assistant

Maureen is brand new to MIS starting on September 19. She is our After Care Lead Teacher overseeing the safety and wellbeing of students who need to stay in aftercare. Maureen is also our part-time Communications and Development Assistant supporting Julie and Kaye in the Communications and Fundraising for the school.
