How to Become an MIS Family

MIS is interested in students and families who share its vision of creating internationally minded, lifelong learners. We seek students and families who want to involve themselves in the school community, and support our values of connection, cooperation and creativity.

A successful MIS student will engage in the opportunities our school provides, and embrace the challenging IB curriculum, the language immersion and the inquiry-based program.

Welcome to the 2024-2025 Admissions Season at MIS!

We are excited about your interest in joining the MIS community. Since 1995, MIS has provided students with a well-rounded education, nurturing their minds, bodies, and spirits. Our mission is to help all students create meaningful and balanced lives, becoming lifelong learners and stewards who contribute to a world needing their unique talents. Our community is built on the values of Cooperation, Connection and Creativity which foster academic excellence and well-rounded individuals.

MIS serves students in Preschool through 8th grade. We invite you to join us for a guided tour where you can witness our vibrant community in action. You will have the chance to visit classes and have real-time conversations to address any questions. To schedule a tour, see below. Additionally, we will offer three information meetings in January. To register to attend, also see below.

We can’t wait to welcome you to our campus and give you the opportunity to experience what sets us apart. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

In gratitude,

Susan Beck

FAQs

  • Applications are due February 19, 2024. Admissions decisions will be communicated mid-march 2024.

  • Your tour will give you a glimpse of the MIS experience and the chance to see how learning builds through each grade level. Experience the active learning environment, see a specialist class, and explore how the immersion model combines with an IB curriculum, to create engaged inquiring learners.

  • MIS is committed to a socio-economically diverse student population, and thus offers financial assistance to qualified families. Please visit this page of our website - making MIS affordable for more information.

  • MIS has a finite amount of spaces each year. When we have more applicants than spaces, applicants who have completed the admissions process will be placed on a waitlist until seats open up.

  • We admit students at all grade levels regardless of their language skills. Language acquisition is a process, and newcomers who join a class in the upper grades may have more of an adjustment period but will also receive individualized and small group Spanish instruction. We view the ongoing language development of a student as a shared responsibility of teachers, parents and the student. A successful student will participate fully with confidence and enthusiasm!

  • Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. When an application is received, if there is space available in the requested multiage classroom, your application will be reviewed.

  • Children who have turned 3 years of age by December 31st, are eligible to apply for admission. All children must be toilet trained and fully independent in using the toilet.
